Enrollment Information

Sara and Julia Welcome to all of our new and returning 2010 camp families! We hope you find this section helpful. Our six week season begins June 27th and ends August 5th. We will be closed on Monday, July 4, 2011. You may choose to enroll your child for four, five or six weeks. Tuition prices and paperwork can be found on our Enrollment Forms page.

Many of our parents have told us that they would like more options in terms of summer camp enrollment. Therefore, in addition to our traditional 4, 5 and 6 week options, we are offering enrollment opportunities for 1, 2 or 3 weeks on a space available basis. Please call the office at 845-356-6477, and we will be happy to try and accommodate your scheduling preferences.

We have made the summer longer! No, we don't have the power to change the calendar or to fool around with the seasons but in addition to our regular six-week day camp we have added a much smaller camp program - for ages 6-12 - called Farm and Garden Days. In collaboration with  The Pfeiffer Center's Outdoor Lesson, this 2-week program (you can sign up for one or both weeks) focuses on fun, hands-on activity, learning and connections with the Earth and each other in the garden, up at the farm and along our woodland trails.

The weeks of Farm and Garden Days are August 8-12 and 15-19. The day is from 9 am to 4 pm. Each co-ed, mixed-age group of campers will be lead by some of the same counselors from the summer. Instead of using Green Meadow School we utilize the facilities and acres of natural farmland and forest that constitute the adjacent Threefold Educational Center.

Offering a different rhythm than the regular camp, Farm and Garden Days will see campers planting, harvesting, cooking, tasting (of course!), helping to plow the fields with horses, digging potatoes from the ground, milking a cow, making compost, keeping nature journals, singing, hearing stories, eating honey fresh from the honeycomb they have just removed from the hive, making sun teas, learning about old farm tools, playing games, swimming, baking pizza in the garden's outdoor clay oven and more. Campers in this program (and their families) are invited back to camp for a weekend day in the Fall, Winter and Spring so as to experience the garden and to see it in a different seasonal light.
The cost for each week is $760. Busing is available, but is based on interest and demand expressed for a given location. There is a separate registration form for this program.

This is a small, specialized program, compared to the regular camp, and will fill up very quickly. For more information please call the camp at 845-356-6477.

We're proud of receiving accreditation from the New York State Section of the American Camping Association. ACA visitors, every three years,  look very carefully at and evaluate each facet of our camp operation: site and food service; transportation; health and wellness; operational management; human resources; program design and activities; aquatics; adventure/challenge program; trip and travel.  Voluntarily submitting to such scrutiny helps us achieve The Nature Place Day Camp's Mission Statement:

"To give campers a safe summer, in which they can be themselves, have fun, be challenged, connect with others and the earth, develop new life skills, and be supported throughout."

All enrolled camp families are eligible to become members of the Threefold Pond (our camp swimming facility)!  If you would like to be part of a swim community where there are no radios, no smoking, no crowds on weekends, but where you'll find plenty of kids, shade and sun, more nature than concrete, and like-minded families, then call Bonnie Johnson, Pond Manager, at 845-371-9711 for more info and an application form.
