Camp Trips

We do not go to the mall, the movies or amusement parks. We don't even go to zoos or museums. All of these are fine places that families can visit on their own. We would rather a child discover a skink lizard scrambling along the rocks on one of the ridge tops in Harriman State Park. Or go into one of the rock shelters the Native Americans used as temporary housing when hunting and foraging. Or find an Indian spear point while sifting through the sandy bottoms of one of our camp streams. Or see a group of turkey vultures circling overhead and wonder if they have spotted some food (a dead animal!) on the ground.
